Knute Rockne's House 1920-1929

After rooting the Irish to victory in the House That Rockne Built, stroll back to the place that Rockne called home from 1920 to 1929. This is the very house Coach Rockne returned to after the Four Horsemen’s triumph over Army at Yankee Stadium, after clinching Notre Dame’s first National Title at the 1925 Rose Bowl, and following his famous “Win One for the Gipper” speech in 1928. Originally located at 1006 East St. Vincent Street, Knute Rockne’s former home was moved to Foster Street in May 2024 to preserve its legacy. Lovingly restored by its current residents to reflect its original look and feel—with high-end finishes and luxury amenities—the home offers an intimate retreat in the historic Harter Heights neighborhood. Located just a 15-minute walk from Notre Dame’s campus, the Rockne House features two spacious bedrooms—each with an en suite bathroom—a dedicated office/third sleeping room, formal living and dining rooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and family-friendly features such as a playroom and cribs. The large backyard and brick patio are ideal for enjoying a Saturday morning outlined against a blue-gray October sky. There’s truly no more iconic place to spend a weekend at Notre Dame than in the home of her greatest legend.
