The Original House at Michigan Stadium

Ann Arbor, MI

  • 7 People
  • 4 Bedrooms
  • 2.5 Bathrooms
  • 0.5 miles Driving distance to event

This home was originally located on an Ann Arbor street that no longer exists—East Berkley—in what's now Section 1 of Michigan Stadium. In September of 1926, the state of Michigan acquired the property through eminent domain and moved it a block and a half uphill toward Allmendinger Park so that Michigan Stadium—the Big House—could be excavated. With a brick driveway that features a Block M, along with its proximity (no need to search for parking, as the driveway is long enough to park five cars) and historical significance to the University of Michigan, you won't find a location with more school spirit anywhere in Ann Arbor. It's the ideal venue for an outing to the nearby University of Michigan golf course (a 10-minute walk), a commencement at Michigan Stadium, or a family football weekend in Ann Arbor.

Other Amenities/Notes

In 1926, the state of Michigan used eminent domain to acquire this single family home and relocate it from where it was built (two blocks away, in what's now Section 1 of Michigan Stadium) so that Michigan Stadium itself could be built. Thoroughly modernized, this comfortable home now features an open first floor plan, new master bedroom, bathrooms, a gas fireplace, and a built-in entertainment system. With parking for four on a new paver driveway, it's a great place to tailgate, better than any luxury suite for corporate events, and sleeps up to eight. Centrally located, this historic home is the ultimate base for a weekend in Ann Arbor.

We stayed at Greg and Terry's beautiful home for 2019 U of M commencement.....what a treat! The home is rich with history and so beautifully done. The walk to the stadium was two blocks and so easy, never having to drive and park. We had four couples and all had a nice bed to sleep in. The owners were very accommodating of our requests, even buying a new grill and trundle bed prior to our stay. The home is immaculate and cozy....highly recommend a stay here if you're lucky enough to find it available. Thanks again Terry and Greg!

This is a fantastic house -- room for a group of guests, beautiful yet comfortable interior, and has everything you need. A quick walk to the stadium in an pleasant and attractive neighborhood. The house was immaculate and the hosts thought of little extras such a complimentary bowl of fruit which we enjoyed. We plan to rent again during the 2018 football season and would highly recommend this home to others planning a group trip to Ann Arbor.

Amazingly close to the football stadium, parking is included saving you a bunch ofmoney on that. Gorgeous home. In fact, one of my friends that was there from the New York area is in construction and he raved about the high quality of everything in and out of the house. The house had everything available that it had in its ad and more. We briefly met the owners and they seemed great.
